Oleia is the lounge collection designed by Luca Nichetto for Ethimo, where weaving becomes a new language for outdoor design. Inspired by Mediterranean landscapes and atmospheres, shaped by light and olive trees, it translates these elements into soft forms and an enveloping weave that expresses a sense of natural, essential comfort.
Inspired by the olive tree, a symbol of the Mediterranean, Oleia features an essential structure enhanced by a handwoven rope pattern that creates rhythm, depth, and movement. The weave, both lightweight and durable, shapes dynamic surfaces that interact with light, while generous volumes and soft lines naturally embrace the body. Conceived as a complete lounge system, the collection includes sofas, seating, and coordinated tables, where each element reflects a harmonious balance between material, form, and function.
Luca Nichetto
Luca Nichetto was born in 1976 in Venice. Over the course of his career, Nichetto has served as art director for many international design brands and he has developed an in-depth knowledge of the design industry. Nichetto’s work has been exhibited worldwide and has been the subject of retrospectives in cities such as Venice, London, Paris and Stockholm. He has been awarded numerous international design awards for his highly researched, innovative design projects, which range across products, furniture and accessories, as well as incorporating architecture and exhibition design.
